The first PDA to have an integrated hard drive is the Zaurus SL-C3000. The Zaurus SL-C3000 is a continuation of Sharp’s successful PDA line that uses the Linux operating system. The new Zaurus has 128 MB of memory but what breaks new ground for a PDA is the 1 inch 4 GB hard drive. Yes a 4 GB hard in a PDA. I have one thing to say about that its about time. Its said to have 7 hours of battery life which i think is great for having a interal hard drive. Other niceties include the ability to operate as a USB drive, SD and CF slots, irDA, and media playback of MP3, WMA, and MPEG-4 video files. Expect the new Zaurus to go on sale November 15 in Japan. You should be able get your sweaty mitts on these in the West shortly thereafter.

The PMP-120
The PMP-120 is a portable, Linux-based media player with a 20GB internal hard drive. It is designed for use as a portable media player, including in-car applications.
The PMP-120 comes with a 5V 2A power supply, as well as a detachable, rechareable 2400mA lithium-ion battery with a claimed life of four hours when playing 640 x 480 video at 24fps, or five hours playing 320 x 240 at 24fps. Claimed audio playback time is 10 hours, with 128kbps/44.1kHz audio.
The PMP-120 includes a 3.5-inch TFT LCD supporting 320×240 resolution with 260K colors. It also includes NTSC/PAL TV out. The sound system supports a claimed frequency range of 20Hz-20kHz, with 90db of A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio. Power output is 20mW at 16 Ohms.
The player also includes an FM tuner, and can record music from “any audio source,” iRiver says. With it’s 20GB internal drive, the device can store a claimed 80 hours of 320 x 240 video in AVI format, or 600 hours of music using Windows Media format at 64kbps.

昨天看了动作科幻娱乐大片I, Robot.
作为标准的娱乐片，还是很精彩地。
不过我看到片子里面那个有些邪恶的USR公司，却想起了
另一家公司：USRobotis。
不知还有多少人记得这家公司。当年，Internet刚在国内
兴起的时候，大家都认Hayes的Modem–对不起，Hayes
公司也倒闭很久了。那时候，一只台湾产的杂牌猫卖五百
元人民币，而hayes的猫可以卖到1200元。而USRobotics
的猫却可以卖到1800元，是高端中的高端。
电影里的USR，很明显是US Robot的意思，美国机器人公司嘛，
大概地位比现在的微软还要高的多：他的CEO是那时的世界首富；
世界上5个人里就拥有她们的一个机器人产品；她们的产品甚至
在军队和人造器官中被广泛使用；他们的CEO也能轻易影响政治
决策。
现实中的US Robotics公司呢，USRobotics曾经做了一笔好
买卖，就是收购了Palm。他96年的财政收入达到20个亿，
97年被3Com收购，如果不是Palm，估计3Com根本没性趣收购他。
而3Com收购完马上就把Palm拆分了出去。USRobotics卖完
Modem基本就没影了，3Com现在好像活的也不好。而Palm
先是分出来Handspring，过几年又收了回去，再拆分成PalmOne
和PalmSource，真是穷折腾。
